A Sailing Opportunity

A Sailing Opportunity

The Vermont Sail Project is alive and well, and looking for two sailors.

Harvest Sailing

Ceres and her crew completed a second voyage down the Hudson earlier this summer, stopping in Mechanicville, Waterford, Troy, Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival in Croton-on-Hudson, and Nyack, among other ports.

Now we’re looking ahead to next weekend’s Tugboat Roundup in Waterford, Sept 5, 6, & 7.  We have a captain for this brief voyage (The intrepid Christin Ripley!), but we would need two more crew members to make it happen.  Are there any sailors out there (or interested folks with a little bit of sailing experience) who would be available to crew Ceres from Sept 3-9 as a volunteer?  The route is Vergennes-Waterford-Vergennes.  Room and board provided to volunteers.  The passage includes the “narrows” of Lake Champlain and the historic New York State canal system, a working vacation on the northeast’s only working sailing barge.

This is an opportunity to spend some time on the water while helping to promote sail transport and regional agriculture.  It’s a last-minute request from a project that wouldn’t exist without the generosity of talented people at every turn!  Please email us today if you’re interested in helping with this run.

Best,
Erik Andrus and the VSFP team
