Bike Your Park a Success! Bonus Slide Show: Suckerfish Falls

Yesterday was a sunny Sunday, and my son Mack and I took advantage of the newly re-opened Denning’s Point bridge to bike the Beacon Loop Trail for the first time since the repair construction started. One of our favorite spots is Suckerfish Falls, just upstream of the South Avenue bridge and the old hat factory. The water level was low enough that we managed to hop the rocks to little Melzingah Island.

No matter how many times we go to this spot there is something new to see. This time, maybe because the water levels were so low,  I noticed little snails in a pool.

The day before, on a rainy and coldish Saturday, Wigwam hosted Bike Your Park Day, and 15 intrepid bicyclists, including three who were under the age of 5 participated, visiting five (5!) parks on less than an 8-mile ride. Due to the rain, side exploration was kept to a minimum, but everyone had a great time nevertheless, and nobody melted in the rain.

I love the picture of the rocks and the piece of brick. Also the one with the giant green iguana!
