A few weeks ago my son and I heard a chainsaw going outside his bedroom window. We looked out and saw a city worker cutting down a tree. I thought perhaps it had a disease. My curiosity grew when, shortly afterward, a massive hole was dug where the tree once stood. More sewer line problems? Then Central Hudson showed up, and a giant Sonotube form went in.
For those who haven’t yet noticed, a new city clock has been installed, on Main Street directly across from South Street, just east of the old railroad station. It was donated to Beacon’s first responders by a family who suffered a fire a few years ago. The dedication will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6.
