Bike Your Park Day in Beacon!

Bike Your Park Day in Beacon!

This Saturday, September 30, is Bike Your Park Day, a day when lots of folks around the world will ride their bicycles to a park. Here in Beacon, Wigwam will host a ride that visits not one, not two, but four parks. And all in the space of a leisurely 5 or 6 miles, mostly on the wonderful Beacon Loop Trail. This is not a training ride. It will be at a pace that almost anyone can handle, and families and kids are welcome, though younger children must be comfortable riding on a roadway.

It can also be done on almost any bicycle in good working order. We’ll be riding on both asphalt and smooth hard pack trail. Wider tires are always more comfy than skinny, but not necessary. We will be climbing a gentle grade on South Avenue, so gears will be helpful.

We’ll start to gather for coffee and conversation at Bank Square Coffee House, 129 Main Street in Beacon, at 9:15 this Saturday, September 30, and the ride will leave promptly at 10am. The ride will finish up by noon on the east end of town, at the Beacon Elks parking lot on Wolcott Avenue. For those interested in lunch, the Elks less than 4 minutes by bicycle from plenty of great eateries. Hope to see you there!
